Six Projects
Vote Blue is engaging our donors and partner organizations to register 7200 new Democratic voters in Ventura County, 3,000 new Democratic votes in Santa Barbara and 900 in San Luis Obispo County for the 2008 primary and Presidential election.
1. Voter Engagement Project energizes local activists in this work of neighbor-to-neighbor contacts. We selected new home owners because they represent a manageable number of contacts for Democratic Clubs to take on and offer the benefit of being an excellent invitation to new neighbors to join their local Democratic groups increase membership and assist in local fundraising for clubs.
Project Blue will focus on the youth vote in three rural and suburban California counties -- Ventura, Northern Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties -- creating a permanent capacity and a model that can be replicated in other areas of California. the goal is to engage youth culturally and socially and to educate and provide local organization and leadership training and internship opportunities. Project Blue will register and track young Democrats and maintain a database.
2. Database Development will include all the new information on voters we register and will be shared with our partners (Democratic Clubs, unions, grassroots organizations) with the addition of historical analysis, trend analysis and voting projections. All this information will be built into our database for use by our partners. Communications will be maintained with our web site password protected system currently being developed.
3. Professional voter registration teams of bi-cultural and bi-lingual activists for an 18 week period from May through October 20 for the Presidential Election of 2008 will be hired, trained and sent to targeted areas to register voters at selected times to maximize our Democratic voter results.
4. Media tools in the form of Vote Blue Crash Course for Voter Registration are now available to help engage and train the local activists and highlight their accomplishments. Distribution is being planned. Please contact us by email or phone for a copy of the DVD for your organization or club.
5. Leadership training opportunities and education for activists will be ongoing. A special year around youth outreach to Millennial Generation, 18 - 28 year old, is in the planning stages with emphasis on engaging Latino youth. This program can serve as model for all RED suburban rural counties in California.
6. Education for activists, treasurers and attorneys on issues of campaign finance reform, reporting and work between nonprofit organizations and political action committees to assure we are meeting the new regulations for Federal and State activists.
